That's right, after today, there are only three days left before Beth and I leave for Ghana. Sunday, is the big send off at Grace Bible Church. God has taught me so much this summer as I have been preparing for this trip. A study in Hezekiah came at the opportune time....God's timing is always perfect. Hezekiah had such a love for God's Word that he had some of his scribes copy Proverbs 25-29. His life was fashioned by these proverbs. He cleaned out the temple. (I need to keep my temple clean-get the junk out!) He reinstated the sacrifices (My life needs to be a living sacrifice.) He responded to God's rebuke with repentance and a humble spirit. (I must not be so stiff-necked in spirit that I do not 'hear' God when He rebukes me.) He stood up to those who attacked him and the city of Jerusalem by trusting in God alone. (I must do the same when Satan attacks.) He prayed that his prayers be answered "that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD God, You alone." 2Kings 19:19 ( I must remember that God answers my prayers for His glory and honor, not mine. That it is His desire for all the world to know that HE IS GOD!)
I would encourage you to read Proverbs 25-29, considering the impact they had on King Hezekiah and applying them to your life. How is God asking you to live your life today? Also, read Psalm 126, which might have been written by King Hezekiah. In this psalm, this song of ascents, I see how I am to respond to God's saving Grace...With rejoicing, declaring it among the nations. "The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy." Psalm 126:3
Keeping all these truths in mind, I go to Ghana looking forward to sharing with you all the great and wonderful things my LORD is going to do for HIS honor and glory.
